The Spirit of Denver will use the USA Karate Kata List
Basic Description of how officials judge kata.
Kata (form) is judged by it's performance within the confines of karate-do. The performance is base on everything from the presentation, skill, and techniques for every style of karate. All elements, include, but are not limited to, the correctness of stances, eye level, balance, speed, power, focus timing, posture, level of movement, strength, body connection, athletic ability, and overall control are part of judgment of kata. This is not limited to any sporting organization, style, or organization. It remains, the overall performance of the kata itself.
Single elimination, no repechage.
All divisions will be done by two simultaneous athletes at once.
The beginner, novice, Intermediate, and Advanced divisions may or may not be combined, based on the number of athletes in each division.
Ages groups will be combined: age 5 and under, 6-7, 8-9, 10-11...
For advanced Divisions, all athletes must perform a different kata every round up to three katas. After a third kata is performed, the athlete may repeat or do any other kata moving forward for any reason. They may continue with any kata as many times as passable for any reason, including ties.
